Interweave Promotes John Bolton to Vice President/Publisher of its Paper and Quilt Division

Interweave announced today that is has promoted John Bolton to Vice President/ Publisher of its Paper and Quilt Division, including “Quilting Arts” and “Cloth Paper Scissors” magazines and related properties. Previously, Bolton was Group Publisher of the Quilt and Paper Group, which was a part of the Fiber Division and is now a separate division of Interweave.
Since Interweave purchased Quilting Arts LLC from John and Patricia Bolton in January 2007, Bolton and his entire team have worked diligently and successfully to assure the business continues to demonstrate the vision and values of the titles’ founder, Patricia “Pokey” Bolton, and that of Interweave.
“John’s leadership and proven performance record with the quilt and paper group has been outstanding,” says Clay Hall, Chief Executive Officer of Aspire Media, Interweave’s parent company. “His ability to build and grow the brand across broad media platforms has firmly established Quilting Arts and Cloth Paper Scissors as the leading brands in their category.”
Bolton will be responsible for overseeing all of the Paper and Quilting Division’s properties, which have expanded rapidly in the last two years across multiple platforms, including: sponsorship of “Quilting Arts TV” on public television and its DVD sales; a new line of books and calendars geared to quilting and paper audiences; Make it University!TM consumer events in conjunction with Quilts Inc. at national quilting shows; “Quilting Arts Workshops” DVD sales and downloadable content for the art quilting and mixed media audiences; two e-newsletters; and an online store. The Paper and Quilt Division has also developed in 2008 the first super special issue publication, “Quilting Arts Gifts,” and debuted a successful newsstand-only special issue publication, “Studios,” which will become a frequency title published four times a year in 2009.
